New Zealand’s most successful industry is Agriculture. Our primary industries contribute about 20% – one dollar in every five – of the total production of the entire country.

We have led and continue to lead the world in turning grass into profit – through better breeding, better techniques, and better people.

A key reason for that is the training and support systems the Agriculture Industry, and farming in particular, have put in place.

The Agriculture Industry Training Organisation (ITO) is one of the largest of 40 ITO’s established over the past 15 years. But it is also the inheritor of a long-established farming cadet scheme that is still remembered by older farmers.

We work with dozens of training providers and schools to support learning that improves productivity because it is put to use straight away. We manage national certificates and diplomas that we call our ‘can do’ qualifications – because they produce people who can do the job – as well as know how to do it.

So we’re doing a lot of good for the country – and that’s one of the biggest reasons why people love working for us.
